Safety & our hikers
Adventure,minus the drama.
Off-leash only works when everything around it is boringly well planned. Here's the boring part.
Policy IBN-POL-003, in plain English
What wecarry & check.
First aid
Every hiker is dog first-aid trained and carries a full kit.
Trackers
GPS on every pack, plus satellite trackers for dogs in trials or having an off day.
Bear safety
Bear spray, bells and noise. Trails change after daily safety checks.
In the car
Dividers, hooks, trunk nets, seat covers with flaps, and individual crates for anxious dogs.
Health
Vaccinations, ID tags and spay/neuter required. No drinking from ponds; tick checks after hikes.
Weather
Shorter hikes in severe weather. Portable showers on hot summer days.
Search kit
A drone and thermal monoculars. We've used them for a full search on Brothers Creek, and found the dog.
Pack size
West Vancouver allows 6 dogs per hiker. That's our ceiling, not our target.
How we choose hikers
Seven gates before your dog's.This is how we do it.
The Call Goes Out
We look for people who feel the pull of the trail, not just a résumé.
The Mind
Screening: how they think, handle pressure and put animal welfare first.
The Heart
A video interview about why they do this. We're listening for real love of dogs.
The Bright in Their Eyes
A trial hike with dogs. You can't fake it on a muddy slope.
Criminal record check
Full police check for every finalist. No exceptions.
Driver's record check
They carry precious cargo on four paws. Clean record required.
Reference check
We talk to the people who've seen them work, and ask the hard questions.
Partner perk
40% off a Tractive GPS tracker.
